EVENTS DC STATEMENT REGARDING CARNEGIE LIBRARY AT MT. VERNON SQUARE

09/23/2016

Washington, DC – We have conducted environmental testing at Carnegie Library at Mt. Vernon Square and as a result have found evidence of mold in two areas of the building. Out of an abundance of caution, we are going to close the facility on a temporary basis to remediate those areas and perform testing of other spaces to ensure that the building is safe.

We will work with our partners at Historical Society of Washington (HSW) to relocate their staff and address other program concerns as well as move Events DC employees.  To ensure we continue to bring stellar events to the District of Columbia, we will be in contact with our clients regarding their scheduled events.

The Carnegie Library is an integral part of the 200-year history of Mt. Vernon Square and serves residents and visitors alike. We take the safety of our buildings seriously and will continue to make repairs and address concerns as quickly as possible.
