DC Jazz Festival Announces Exciting Line-Up
WASHINGTON, June 8, 2016 - The DC Jazz Festival® (DC JazzFest) - the country's fastest growing jazz festival - is set to welcome a diverse selection of locally, nationally and internationally acclaimed artists, performing in venues across the nation's capital, from June 10-19. The festival unofficially kicked off this past weekend, with the hugely popular Jazz 'n Families Fun Days at The Phillips Collection drawing tremendous crowds.
Even a cursory glance at the schedule offers luminaries such as Kamasi Washington, Cécile McLorin Salvant, Maceo Parker, Regina Carter, The Revive Big Band with Talib Kweli, Bilal and Ravi Coltrane, Eddie Palmieri Latin Jazz Septet, Michele Rosewoman & New Yor-uba, NEA Jazz Master Benny Golson, gospel master Richard Smallwood, Steve Coleman and Five Elements, and Kurt Elling...and that doesn't even crack the surface.
The DC Jazz Festival is dedicated to showcasing the wealth of great artists based across the globe. In addition to adding three days to the Festival this year, DC JazzFest has added a third performance day on the Capitol Riverfront at Yards Park, and also returns to the Kennedy Center Concert Hall with a gala night celebrating the tremendous tradition of Howard University Jazz.
