Washington Marriott Marquis Hotel

In 2010, Events DC broke ground on the future home of the Washington Marriott Marquis hotel, scheduled to open in spring 2014.
 
The 1,175-room, 49-suite Washington Marriott Marquis is designed to reflect its surroundings and complement the neighboring Walter E. Washington Convention Center.  With more than 100,000 square feet of meeting and assembly space, a grand lobby and five separate retail and restaurant outlets on the ground floor, the hotel is also set to be the next great social hub in the city.  The new $520 million, four-star hotel, will be one of only four Marriott Marquis properties in the country.

Stadium-Armory Campus Renovation

Events DC is currently undertaking a multi-million dollar capital improvement project on the Stadium-Armory campus. The improvements will enhance the event experience for consumers and assist in the ongoing initiative to attract fun and affordable events to the campus. Improvements completed in February 2013 include renovated restrooms and new concourse lighting at RFK Stadium.

 

Walter E. Washington Convention Center Retrofit

In 2010, the Walter E. Washington Convention Center underwent a spacious facelift which provided expanded capacity to meet increased demand. The $14 million expansion created an additional 48,000 square feet of flexible meeting space, including two new glass-walled meeting rooms overlooking the Grand Lobby, an exceptional area for executive meetings, presentations and receptions.
 
The retrofit facelift also included the installation of state-of-the-art Skyfold Walls in East and West Registration as well as relocation and conversion of staff offices into meeting space outfitted with custom carpeting, upgraded lighting, electrical and sound systems.
